The Totsuka no Tsurugi (十束剣とつかのつるぎ, Totsuka-no-Tsurugi), also known as Ten-Bundles Sword (十束剣, Jū-taba Ken) and Holy Spirit Swords, are a kind of Japanese Holy Sword that have been used since ancient times. One of them is in the possession of Yukihiko Hoderi, a first-year student from the Kuoh Academy Junior High Division.

Summary

According to Yukihiko Hoderi, there are several Totsuka-no-Tsurugi from the ancient times with his family being in possession of one, which he is allowed to wield by his parents, on the condition that he must not use it to commit evil deeds or have it stolen, implying that he has to guard it with his life.

Yukihiko used this Holy Sword during his participation in the Azazel Quest and the Azazel Cup.

Appearance

All the Totsuka no Tsurugi, instead of katanas, rather resemble ancient double-edged swords, which predates the creaton of the katanas.

Abilities

Totsuka no Tsurugi is a Holy Sword of Shinto legends, which is capable of unleashing powerful holy aura like other legendary Holy Swords.

Yukihiko has stated there have been several Totsuka no Tsurugi from ancient times.

Ame-no-Ohabari

Ame-no-Ohabari is one of the Totsuka-no-Tsurugi, being considered the strongest among the ones that became divine swords, which achieved divinity. In Shinto Legend, Ame-no-Ohabari was used to kill Hinokagutsuchi, which caused the flames of the slain god to inhabit the blade, thus letting the wielder manipulate flames.

This sword, however, was soon used by the Biblical God as one of the sources for one of the original thirteen Longinus, Canis Lykaon, in addition to the King of Arcadia, Lycaon, resulting in Ame-no-Ohabari losing its divinity because of Zeus' curse on Lycaon turning it into an ominous black blade and distorting and turning its Independent Avatar into a dog instead of a wolf.

• There exists four other Totsuka-no-Tsurugi in Shintosim:
  • Ame-no-Ohabari, the strongest of the four Totsuka-no-Tsurugi that achieved divinity was sealed inside of Canis Lykaon, however, it lost its divinity as a result of Zeus' curse on the King of Arcadia, Lycaon as both were used to create it.
  • A second unnamed one was used by Amaterasu and Susanoo.
  • Ame-no-Habakiri, a Totsuka-no-Tsurugi used by Susanoo to kill Yamata no Orochi.
  • Futsunomitama-no-Tsurugi, a Totsuka-no-Tsurugi used by Takemikazuchi.
• Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi, also known as Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, can be considered one of the Totsuka-no-Tsurugi, however, it wasn't created rather found inside of Yamata no Orochi.
