Sha Wujing is the legendary first generation Youkai who appeared in the Journey to the West tale and the ancestor of the current generation Sha Wujing.
Appearance[]
Sha Wujing has the appearance of a bearded old monk with a necklace made of skulls around his neck.
Personality[]
Sha Wujing is shown to dislike being called a Kappa, stating that he is a Water Hermit, as he is shown to be frustrated that Sun Wukong keeps forgetting that and keeps calls him a Kappa, with Sha having to remind him not to call him that nearly every time.[1]
History[]
At some point in the past, he also accompanied the monk Xuanzang on a journey to retrieve Buddhist sutras from India while also being accompanied by Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie in order to atone for their previous crimes. The whole group would later encounter a series of eighty-one tribulations before accomplishing their mission and returning safely to China.
Powers and Abilities[]
Youjutsu Master: Sha Wujing has great mastery of Youjutsu. With it, he is able to conjure various offensive and defensive spells, specializing in water manipulation.
- Water Manipulation: As the legendary Water Youkai from the Journey to the West tale, Sha Wujing has the ability to manipulate and control water as his water controlling abilities are noted to surpass his descendant in terms of power, scale and precision. He can shape water into water spheres, which have the ability to swallow up other attacks used against them such as Kuroka's Youjutsu and Le Fay’s magic as it would swallow them up and prevent the techniques from working. Due to their aquatic nature, the spheres are notably elastic and can regain their shape even if attacked, as they cannot be cut even by the Holy King Sword; Caliburn. The water spheres can be used to capture objects or people as it was able to nearly swallowed up Bikou's Ruyi Jingu Bang and captured Kuroka.
Immense Strength: As the legendary Youkai from the Journey to the West tale, Sha Wujing is noted to be exceptionally powerful. He was able to fight against his descendant; the current Sha Wujing and Kuroka simeoustantly. However, due to his advanced age, it is shown that he can sprain his back if he is overexerts himself.
Touki (闘気, Fighting Spirit): Sha Wujing is capable of utilizing Touki to strengthen himself or imbue it into his Moon Staff to strengthen it.
