Information |
The Sephiroth Graal (幽世の聖杯, Sefiroto Gurāru),[1] also known as Holy Grail of the Secluded World (幽世の聖杯, Kakuriyo no Seihai), is a Sacred Gear wielded by Valerie Tepes. It is listed as one of the thirteen original Longinus.
Summary[]
It is named after the Holy Grail from the Last Supper that Christ used and the Grail of Arthurian Legend. Sephiroth Graal, along with True Longinus (Holy Spear), Incinerate Anthem (Holy Cross), Alphecca Tyrant (Holy Nail), and the Shroud of Turin are known as the Holy Relics.[2]
In Volume 14, Elmenhilde Karnstein revealed that the Tepes faction has gained a possessor of Sephiroth Graal in their ranks, Valerie Tepes.[3]
In Volume 16, Rizevim Livan Lucifer and Marius Tepes each gained a piece of Sephiroth Graal[4] but the latter's piece was retrieved and returned to Valerie.
In Volume 22, Gasper succeeded in retrieving the third part of the Holy Grail and the Sacred Gear to its complete state.[5]
Appearance[]
The Sephiroth Graal takes an appearance of a golden cup. Valerie's subspecies creates three golden cups of the same appearance.
Abilities[]
Sephiroth Graal is a golden grail that came in contact with the blood of Christ, which allows the possess to come into contact with the principles of life itself. The possessor is also forcefully told about how both life and souls are made, in addition to taking in the mind and concept of the death, living, and various other things, while using the Sephiroth Graal resulting in the possessor being broken from the abundance of thoughts entering their heart and soul whenever overusing it.[6] Through looking into the principles of life, Rizevim was able to discern the location of others such as the sealed Trihexa at the "end of the world."[7]
From the power to control the principles of life, the Sephiroth Graal can summon and control souls as it was used to bring revive the long dead Evil Dragons, Masaomi Yaegaki, and then transferred half of the soul of Yamata no Orochi inside of Ame no Murakumo no Tsurugi.[6] It can also repair the bodies of others and restore them to their peak conditions, which was used on the revived Evil Dragons who were defeated each time as long as their soul remained intact as proven by Grendel making it possible to reverse the damage from using Forbidden Spells.[8] Rizevim restored the Fruits of Life and Wisdom, which his mother, Lilith, the Mother of Devils had stored inside of Purgatory after being withered.[9]
The Sephiroth Graal was also used to collect information on the Red Dragon Emperor's soul and the Boosted Gear from Issei Hyoudou's original body.[7] It was later used to mass-produce Plate Mail armors.
Valerie's Sephiroth Graal is a Subspecies, where there are three grails instead of one, which was the reason that she didn't die after having the other two stolen from her. Hers has more outstanding aspects than all the previous possessors, being able to remove the weaknesses of creatures as much as possible.[4] It can further strengthen others, as shown when it enhanced the Grendel who Ddraig noted was stronger than in the past suggesting that he was enhanced, in addition to being more resistant to Dragon Slayers, a common weapon against Dragons and Magic than before.[10] This was used to enhanced Aži Dahāka so that his lifespan wouldn't be shortened despite his constant usage of Forbidden Spells and techniques.[11]
It was used to strengthen the Romanian Vampires who sought to remove their natural weaknesses and become true immortals.[12] It was shown as Marius Tepes achieved immortality in the form of regeneration akin to that of the Phenex Clan, which allowed him to regenerate from even Rias' Power of Destruction as long as his soul remains intact.[4]
Sephiroth Graal could even reconstruct the bodies of others, as shown when Rizevim transformed the pure-blood Vampires into mass-produced Evil Dragons,[13] and modified Trihexa so that it can produce armies of Plate Mails.[14]
In Volume 21, Apophis displayed the ability to directly create organisms using one of the stolen grails, repeatedly creating Mass-Produced Evil Dragons and Plate Mails to replace those that had been destroyed.[15]
In Volume 23, Valerie showed the ability to heal wounds by using the goblet to produce a white healing liquid which heals injuries, however, it doesn't have the same leven of instant healing compared to Twilight Healing.[16]
In Volume 24, Valerie showed the ability to restore physical youth of a living being, as shown when she gave Vasco Strada a younger body with the Sephiroth Graal.[17]
As a unique feature of the Holy Relics, Sephiroth Graal can break through seals.[7] In Volume 9, it was revealed that the Holy Relics can drive believers of the Church insane.[2] Sephiroth Graal can also mentally influence others by “pulling them in”, with the effect being enhanced on believers of Christianity.[6]
Weaknesses[]
If the user overuses the power of the Holy Grail to resurrect the dead, it can contaminate the user's mind which has the side effect of the possessor gaining the ability to talk with and apparently see the dead from the other world.[6]
Trivia[]
- Valerie's Sephiroth Graal is the second Sacred Gear to have a subspecies in its base form, the first being Siegfried's Twice Critical.
