Ruyi Jingu Bang is a famous magical staff, which belongs to the original Sun Wukong.

Summary

In Chinese mythology, Ruyi Jingu Bang was originally used by Yu the Great to measure the depths of the world flood.

In the past, Sun Wukong received from the undersea palace of Ao Guang, the Dragon King of the East Sea, which he wielded as his main weapon during his Journey to the West stories.

In Volume 4 and 5, Bikou is noted to wield his own replica version of his ancestor's Ruyi Jingu Bang, which possesses the same abilities albeit not as heavy as the original.

Appearance

Ruyi Jingu Bang appears to be a simple looking long red staff that has golden caps on both ends of it.

Abilities

Ruyi Jingu Bang is a magic staff noted to be immensely heavy weighing approximately 17,550 lbs (8.775 tons), which can extend to incredible lengths seemingly without limits and retract based on the will of its wielder. It can also change its size, multiply itself, and even fight according to the will of its master.

Sun Wukong has proven to be able to wield his Ruyi Jingu Bang as a medium for his Senjutsu and Youjutsu, able to cast spells and infusing Touki at the staff's tip to block a blast of demonic power from Vali Lucifer without much effort.

Ruyi Jingu Bang originates from the 16th century novel Journey to the West by Wu Cheng'en, wherein it is Sun Wukong's primary weapon.
