Nereid Kyrie (終わる翠緑海の詠, Nereisu Kirie), also known as the Poem of Endless Green Sea (終わる翠緑海の詠, Owaru Suiryoku Umi no Ei), is a Sacred Gear currently wielded by Ingvild Leviathan, the Queen of Issei Hyoudou's Peerage. It is listed as one of the currently known five new Longinus, and a high-tier Longinus.
Summary[]
One of the newly manifested Longinus, it awakened inside of Ingvild Leviathan, a half-Human descendant of the Leviathan clan. Due to Ingvild being in a coma because of her Sleep Disease, her initially unknown dormant Sacred Gear she was already born with evolving into a Longinus awakened her from her sleep. She was later taken to the Grigori who helped her in analyzing her power, concluding that it has the ability to affect Dragons and the sea.[1] During that time, she was ambushed by the Greek Goddess of the Night — Nyx, who implanted a mind control spell inside of Ingvild as she hoped to harness the power of Ingvild's Longinus to use against the Two Heavenly Dragons. Ingvild was forced to use her Longinus against Issei Hyoudou as she rendered him powerless with her song.[1] During Issei's fight with Nyx, he asked Ingvild to sing for him and use the Longinus' ability in reverse, in order to strengthen him and thus giving Issei the power to defeat Nyx.[2]
Currently, Ingvild is still training to control her Longinus as she cannot use it to specifically target Dragons to weaken with her ability, while also learning how to strengthen them to an enormous degree.[3][4] Her ability to control the sea is still immature compared to her ability to control Dragons.[1]
Appearance[]
While Nereid Kyrie doesn't have a physical form, when using it, Ingvild's eyes glow in a lavender color as the area around her is enveloped in lavender light particles.
Abilities[]
Like other Longinus, Nereid Kyrie grants the user two distinct abilities, one is the power to manipulate Dragons by using their singing voice and manipulating the sea.[1] In singing alone, the user could enslave Dragons, making a Dragon fall asleep, making them powerless, which was first shown as Issei couldn't continue wearing his Cardinal Crimson Promotion, affecting Ddraig, who said that it might even affect Diabolos Dragon God.[1] Ajuka Beelzebub stated that even Dragon Gods such as Great Red and Ophis could be potentially controlled.
An additional trait, is that the user can detect Dragons, being able to tell that Issei had Ddraig sealed within him via Boosted Gear. Aside from being able to weaken Dragons, Nereid Kyrie can be used to strengthen them too, and through using Issei in Diabolos Dragon God as a medium, it can be used to strengthen others.[2]
It second ability of manipulating the sea could be used to control an entire ocean, letting one sink an urban area, reaching the point of an entire country. According to Rias, it could develop into a Sub-Species, which can control lakes too, because of Ingvild Leviathan's inherit Demonic Power, Sea Serpent of the End.[2]
As a High-tier Longinus, Nereid Kyrie has the potential to destroy the world, through using an army of controlled Dragons and manipulating the sea.
- Paipod (乳音拡声, Paipoddo): Also known as Breast Song Reinforcement (乳音拡声, Chichi-on Kakusei). By using Issei's Diabolos Dragon God as a conduit, Ingvild can empower Issei and his allies who are present. The song can be heard through the breasts of women as the area is bathed in lavender light particles.[2]
