Summary[]
A number of Excalibur swords are stolen by rogue exorcists, which the Vatican tracked to Japan. The members of the Gremory peerage must manage the conflict between rival factions before their hometown becomes a battlefield.
Prelude[]
While visiting Issei's house, Yuuto comes across a picture of a Holy Sword, which causes him to remember his past as his feeling become clouded and he became distant towards his friends. On his way home, he was attacked by Freed Sellzen who was wielding Excalibur Rapidly, one of the Excalibur swords.
The other day, two Church Exorcists; Xenovia Quarta and Irina Shidou arrive at Kuoh Town as they relay that a number of Excalibur swords were stolen and taken there, with them demanding that the Devils living in Kuoh Town do not interfere in the fight between the them and the Fallen Angels. Issei was able to convince the two Exorcists to cooperate with him and his group (Koneko, Saji and Yuuto) in secret by offering to help them destroy the Excaliburs, as he wanted to help Yuuto move on from his past.
After several days of searching, they were able to locate Freed, as Yuuto fought him again. but Freed was able to escape. Rias and Sona discovered Issei's plan to destroy the Excaliburs, as Rias scolded Issei for his reckless action. Later that night, before Rias and Issei were going to sleep, they sensed a presence outside their house as Kokabiel revealed himself and stated his plans on restarting the Great War by destroying Kuoh Town. Daring Rias to try to stop him, he teleported to Kuoh Academy to prepare for the final fight between them.
History[]
As the Gremory and Sitri peerages rallied to Kuoh Academy, Saji informed Rias that the Sitri peerage had placed a barrier around the school to contain the damage of the battle. Sona and Rias discussed about calling their siblings for help as Akeno revealed that she had already contacted Sirzechs Lucifer and asked for his help as they needed to stall for an hour before the Satan and his reinforcements arrived.
As the Gremory peerage arrived to the school field, the became shocked at the sight of Valper Galilei trying to fuse the Excalibur swords together.
Kokabiel summoned his Cerebus to fight the Gremory peerage as he observed the fight. As Rias, Akeno and Koneko moved to fight the Cerebus, it is revealed that Kokabiel summoned a second Cerebus as well who leapt to attack Issei only to be killed by Xenovia. Issei used his Gift ability to increase Rias and Akeno's powers who used it against the first Cerebus as Kiba came and restrained its movements with his demon swords before the Cerebus died from the onslaught of demonic powers. Rias then moved to attack Kokabiel who blocked her attack.
Valper was able to combine the Excalibur swords together into the Fused Excalibur, which Freed then wielded against the Gremory peerage. Yuuto and Xenovia cooperated in order to fight him as Valper mocked Yuuto over the fact that Valper was able to use Yuuto's comrades as lab rats to complete his Holy Sword research. Tossing the last Light Container he had with him, Valper revealed that he has the ability to mass-produce them.
Yuuto attains his Balance Breaker: Sword of Betrayer
As Yuuto grieved over the loss of his comrades, their spirits emerged from the Light Container to encourage him. Absorbing the Light Container, Yuuto was able to achieve his Balance Breaker: Sword of Betrayer, which allowed him to create Holy Demonic Swords.
Using his Balance Breaker, Yuuto was able to fight on par with Freed who was wielding the Fused Excalibur. While Freed was busy fighting Yuuto, Xenovia was able to release Durandal from the alternate dimension she kept it in, as used it to shatter the Fused Excalibur, with Yuuto defeating Freed after further shattering Excalibur.
Realizing that God had died due to the manifestation of Yuuto's Holy Demonic Sword, Valper was betrayed and killed by Kokabiel, who taunted Rias and dared her to attack him after having her powers enhanced by the Boosted Gear. As Rias shot out her enhanced Power of Destruction, Kokabiel was able to block it. As the members of the Gremory peerage and Xenovia continued to fight Kokabiel, he chided them for continuing to fight after losing their master, as he revealed that both the Original Four Great Satans and God of the Bible died in the Great War. Everyone was shocked by the revelation, and Asia lost consciousness due to her shock. With the majority of the group in despair, Issei was determined to keep fighting, and his determination was able to rally the others to fight as well.
Before they could continue the fight, the barrier was broken as the White Dragon Emperor appeared. He scolded Kokabiel for betraying the Grigori, as he ripped Kokabiel's wing and used his Divide ability to continuously halve Kokabiel's power and defeat him.
Conclusion[]
After Kokabiel's defeat, he and the unconscious Freed are carried away by Vali to the Grigori. Kokabiel was subsequently imprisoned in Cocytus. Freed later resurfaced as a member of the Khaos Brigade, assisting Diodora Astaroth.
Irina was able to heal her wounds and recover the cores of the Excalibur swords as well as Xenovia's Excalibur Destruction, due to Xenovia becoming a Devil. The two former partners and friends departed on bad terms due to Irina's disappointment about Xenovia becoming a Devil, with the potential prospect that the two might have to face each other as enemies on opposite sides.
Due to finding out about the God of the Bible's death, Xenovia was shunned and exiled by the higher-ups despite being the wielder of Durandal. It was later revealed during the Three Factions' peace conference that the reason why she was exiled was that her knowledge about God's death might affect the faith of believers and the stability of the System that governs miracles. With nowhere to go, Xenovia approached Rias about becoming her servant, which Rias accepted as Rias reincarnated her into her second Knight.
Due to the recent tension between the Three Factions, their respective leaders agreed to meet to discuss the recent events and the overall state of affairs between the Three Factions.

With nowhere to go, Xenovia joined the Gremory Peerage as Rias' second Knight, as she gave Irina her Excalibur Destruction to return to the Vatican, however Xenovia was able to retain her Durandal due to it not having a suitable wielder other then Xenovia. |

During the their pursuit of the Excalibur swords, she was defeated by Freed and had her Excalibur sword taken. Due to being injured, she was unable to participate in the final fight against Kokabiel, and didn't learn about God's death. After Kokabiel's defeat, she was able to retrieve all of the stolen Excalibur's, with Xenovia giving her own Excalibur Destruction due to becoming a Devil. |

After Freed was defeated and Valper realized that God of the Bible was dead, Kokabiel killed him. He then fought the members of the Gremory peerage himself, withstanding Rias Gremory's Power of Destruction which was enhanced by Issei Hyoudou's Boosted Gear's Gift ability. Before he could continue fighting against the Gremory peerage, Vali Lucifer appeared and defeated him, by halving Kokabiel's power with his Divide ability, capturing him and taking him back to Azazel to be sealed for his transgressions. |
| Freed Sellzen | A Stray Exorcist and former underling of Raynare. He manage to steal several Excalibur swords such as Rapidly, Nightmare, Transparency from the various churches. During his infiltration of Kuoh Town, he had a quick skirmish with Yuuto Kiba. He later managed to steal Excalibur Mimic from Irina. During the final battle, with Valper's help, he managed to combine the 4 Excalibur swords into Fused Excalibur, which had all of their powers. He was later defeated by Yuuto and Xenovia after Xenovia shattered his Fused Excalibur with her Durandal. |
| Valper Galilei | The lead researcher for the Holy Sword Project, Valper was exiled after the leaders of the Church learned the extent of his experiments. Joining forces with Kokabiel in hopes of exacting revenge upon the Church and Heaven by creating an army of Holy Sword wielders, he gave Freed the capability to wield the Excalibur swords. After Freed was defeated by Yuuto, Valper realized that both the Satans and God died due to creation of Yuuto's Holy Demonic Sword, which should be impossible. Before departing, the dragon Albion talked to Ddraig and told him that they should meet again as Vali departed with Kokabiel and Freed in tow. |
