Great King Faction, also known as Great Royal Faction, is a political faction formed by the Bael Clan to increase their influence, as they empathized with Underworld politics based on traditional Devil aristocracy such as Devil blood purity and the continuation of the Devil noble society.
In the aftermath of the Devil Civil War, the Anti-Satan Faction splintered into two factions as the aces of the faction became the new Four Great Satans while Zekram Bael and his Bael Clan were able to gain greater influence in the Underworld due to supporting the Underworld in the aftermath of the Original Four Great Satans deaths and the loss of influence among the original Satan clans after their defeat in the Devil Civil War. The Bael Clan created the Great King Faction in order to continue to increase the power of the Bael Clan and maintain the society of nobles that the pureblood High-class Devils created as the Great King Faction would engage in a political tug-of-war with the Four Great Satans and their supporters for the next several centuries.
After Ajuka Beelzebub created the Evil Pieces system and the Rating Games, the Great King Faction was able to obtain the rights for the Rating Games including the prototype King Pieces, which they gave to several pureblood Devils such as Roygun Belphegor and Bedeze Abaddon as they manipulated the Rating Game matches behind the scenes in order to further increase their influence and earn vast sums of money by betting on the prefixed matches.
Eventually, the rumors of the King Piece's existence was spread through the Underworld as a young Devil girl from the Belial Clan; Cleria Belial, discovered the existence of the King Piece through her investigations. Seeking to keep the information a secret, they exploited the fact that she started a romance with a Church Exorcist; Masaomi Yaegaki, to have her killed and blame her death on the fact that she had entered a forbidden romance with a enemy of the Devils.
In Volume 10, it is revealed that the upcoming match between the Gremory peerage and the Bael peerage would be treated as a proxy conflict between the Satan faction and the Great King Faction as the two factions quarreled over where the match should take place; with the Satan faction wishing for the match to take place in the Gremory or Satan territory while the Great King Faction wished for the match to take place in Bael territory. Sirzechs Lucifer made a secret deal with leaders of the Great King Faction to ensure that the match wouldn't be tampered with. After the match, due to losing the match, Sairaorg Bael lost the support of the politicians of the Great King Faction.
In Volume 11, it is revealed that the Great King Faction was being questioned by the Satan factions as well as the Grigori and Heaven for forcing Sairaorg Bael to hide the fact that his Pawn; Regulus, was actually the avatar of the Longinus; Regulus Nemea, as due to the Kuoh Treaty, each of the factions needed to report the fact that they found the location of a Longinus.
In Volume 12, during the aftermath of the Demonic Beast Riot, it is revealed that the Great King Faction started to fear Issei Hyoudou due to the fact that he was able to survive Samael's curse which should have killed him.
In Volume 17, the Great King Faction opposed the idea of building the Auros Academy due to their adherence to their pure-blood supremacy, as a school which would potentially produce commoner devils who could become as talented as pure-blood devils was unacceptable to them, though the faction reluctantly allow the Archduke of the Agares clan to build the school in his territory.
In Volume 18, the politicians of the Great King Faction were attacked by the resurrected Masaomi Yaegaki, who sought revenge against them for the death of his lover Cleria Belial, as he was able to kill several of them. The leader of the Great King Faction; Zekram Bael, visited the Gremory territory and told the cover story about Cleria's death by stating that her romance with Masaomi got her killed so that the Underworld and Church could protect the status quo. Zekram stated that he would entrust Team DxD with settling the matter as the Bael faction was being watched.
In Volume 20, it is revealed by Ajuka Beelzebub that members of the Great King Faction were considering eliminating Riser Phenex and Ravel Phenex due to them learning the truth about the King Piece from Diehauser Belial. Later, during Team DxD's invasion of the Qlippoth-controlled Agreas, Diehauser was able to hijack the broadcast networks of the Underworld, as he revealed the King Piece's existence and the Great King Faction's involvement in orchestrating his cousin's death.
In Volume 21, during the Evil Dragon War, one of the Great King Faction's Rating game collaborators; Bedeze Abaddon, attacked the Bael Castle in order to try to push the King Piece scandal solely on the Great King Faction and hide his involvement in the scandal by taking down the leaders of the faction to preserve his reputation. He was defeated by Sairaorg Bael and Genshirou Saji, being arrested by them.
In Volume 23, it is revealed that Lord Belial left the Great King Faction after finding out their involvement in his niece's death and the role in the King Piece scandal which forced his son to ally with Qlippoth to expose and lead to his imprisonment, as Lord Belial attacked Zekram Bael by punching him in the face.
In Volume 24, Ajuka Beelzebub revealed that the Great King faction objected to the Satans's plans of making the Two Heavenly Dragons; Issei Hyoudou and Vali Lucifer, the new Satans as the Great King Faction stated that the two would have to reach the semi-finals of the Azazel Cup to silence their objections.
In True Light Novel Volume 4, Zekram Bael gave his consent to promote the Two Heavenly Dragons; Issei Hyoudou and Vali Lucifer, to the newly created Special-class Devil rank despite the objections of the other members of the Great King Faction.

- Despite being a member of the Bael Clan, most of the members of the Great King Factions despise Sairaorg Bael due to his lacking demonic powers and the signature ability of the Bael Clan; the Power of Destruction.
- While a member of the faction as the heir of the Bael Clan, Sairaorg doesn't believe in their dogma of pureblood supremacy as he is merely using his connection to the faction as a means of achieving his goal of becoming a Satan.
- Due to the aftermath of the Devil Civil War, the Great King Faction had a great deal of influence as their political influence was equal if not slightly superior to the current Four Great Satan. However, in recent times, due to revelations of the scandals such as the Cleria Belial incident as well as the King Piece scandal and the Great King Faction's role in it, the influence of the Great King Faction is starting to weaken.
