Fafnir is one of the Five Great Dragon Kings. He is the Golden Dragon known as the Gigantis Dragon.
Appearance[]
Fafnir is a golden Western Dragon that is more than 10 meters tall, who lacks a pair of wings on his back, which are possessed by most Western Dragons, and has a horn on the tip of his nose. In his first appearance, Fafnir had a pair of Asia's panties on his horn. In Outrage mode, Fafnir is able to manifest a pair of wings.
Personality[]
Little is known of Fafnir's personality due to him being sealed in Azazel's Artificial Sacred Gear, as well as the fact that there are very few instances of him being described. He's not as proud as other dragons. As mentioned by Sona and Azazel, Fafnir is greedy dragon with an abnormal obsession with gold and treasures even amongst Dragon, thus he has a tendency to collect treasures throughout the world. Fafnir's love for gold is also what attracts him to Asia due to her golden blonde hair.
In his first appearance, Fafnir is revealed to be a perverted Dragon with a fetish for panties, sniffing them and referring to them as "treasures". According to Ddraig and Albion, Fafnir wasn't as perverted in the past as he is right now. However despite his perverseness, he is shown to be exceptionally faithful to those he serves, as he frequently lends his powers to Azazel, and protects Asia while risking his own life in the process, and didn't stand aside despite his grave injuries.
History[]
A legendary Dragon of Norse Mythology. Not much is known about Fafnir except that he was previously killed by the original Sigurd who wielded the Demon Sword Gram but was later revived by the Norse Gods. Azazel also believes that the influence of Odin in his revival is the reason for the dragon king's pervertness. Prior to the series, he made a contract with Azazel to aide him in his Sacred Gear research by allowing himself to be sealed inside Azazel's Artificial Sacred Gear.
Powers & Abilities[]
Immense Strength: As one of the Five Great Dragon Kings, Fafnir should be very powerful, though his baseline strength has never been properly demonstrated. When he enters his Outrage, he is powerful enough to knock aside Lilith and overpower Rizevim Lucifer with just brute force. According to Rias Gremory, Fafnir is a God-class Dragon when in his Outrage state as he was capable of pulling off a impressive fight against Crom Cruach, the strongest Evil Dragon, to the point of breaking his arm by biting it.
Immense Durability: He can endure massive amounts of offensive force, able to shield Asia during the battle in Heaven from Rizevim, though Rizevim was still "playing" at that point, and even then Fafnir was spitting out blood. However, his Outrage also greatly improves his toughness, allowing him to shrug off a direct strike to the face from Lilith and counterstrike with a horizontal kick. During his fight with Crom Cruach, he was capable of withstanding a great amount of Crom Cruach's attacks.
Immense Speed: Fafnir is very fast despite his large body. When his Outrage is triggered, Issei believed that he could dodge Rizevim's attacks, but that Fafnir was an illusion, so the validity of Issei's belief is uncertain, though at the very least he was fast enough to closely chase the Super Devil in question.
Fire Breath: As a dragon, Fafnir can create a powerful dragon flames and fireballs.
Outrage: When angered, Fafnir can enter into a state that grants immensely increased power and a pair of wings. In this state, he is able to overpower Rizevim Lucifer, a Super Devil, casually tear through his Demonic barrier and off his right arm, and later kill him with a single bite, though both situations carry exceptions, with Rizevim only goofing around and unfazed by the loss of his arm in the first instance, even being distracted by Issei before he got serious against Fafnir, and the second being after he was already greatly injured and worn out.
Golden Aura: In his first shown battle, Fafnir released a golden block of aura from his mouth that extinguished Grendel's flame, showing the ability to negate the power of his enemies. The Golden Aura can also be used to help store treasures that are collected by Fafnir, and can be used as a powerful golden barrier. It can be also be added Asia`s Twilight Saints Healing aura, adding it's defensive power to her Balance Breaker's healing field, the two together even able to negate attacks on the level of a Super Devil.
Treasure Summoning: In his battle with Rizevim Livan Lucifer, Fafnir displayed the ability to summon his treasure trove of legendary weapons and also use their abilities. He summons them from his mouth, as these weapons are said to be rare and capable of to killing a High-Class Devil and even being able to injure an Ultimate Class Devil or possibly a Super Devil like Rizevim.
Magic: Fafnir has shown skills in magic.
- Teleportation Magic: Fafnir is capable of creating a Dragon Gate, which he used his own teleport to kill Rizevim who was injured.
Replication: Fafnir has the ability to create a swarm of mini Fafnirs to attack his enemy.
Curse: Fafnir is able to turn his spirit into a powerful curse that allows him to attack his enemy in their dreams eternally that can make them go insane and die.
Telepathy: Fafnir can telepathically talk to others, such as to Asia in her mind and dreams.
Flight: Though he is originally a flightless dragon, by manifesting his powers and entering his Outrage mode he can somehow manifest functional wings.
Equipment[]
Assorted Legendary Weapons: Fafnir's stored hoard contains a large number of legendary and powerful weapons of various abilities, such as swords of fire and ice, lightning-imbued spears, axes that give off aura of their own, and many more, such as Rizevim's belief that the afterimage in their fight indicated weapons with illusory powers. Fafnir is able to project these weapons in a torrent from his mouth, and when deflected they're able to readjust and repeatedly fire themselves at their target.
- Tathlum Replica: A devil's bullet that once fired, is unavoidable. It is a replica of the original, a magical bullet used by Lugh to kill Balor, given to him by Azazel as payment for their previous pact.

- Fafnir's title Golden Dragon Monarch (黄金龍君) is loosely based on the name of the Pokemon Suicune (水君).[1]
- Fafnir was a dragon/worm from Germanic legend who was considerably less benevolent than his DxD version.
